Women's Center
Women are the fabric of the tribal culture in southern Sudanese and northern Ugandan. They do most of the farming, child-care, preparation of meals, household chores, and water-fetching. While women do most of the work and are the backbone of social relationships in a village, these areas are still highly patriarchal and women have very limited social space that is their own. In 2003, Mosaic paid for a Women's Center to be built in southern Sudan in order to give women their own place for networking, gathering, resting, and meeting.
